Hello! We would like to share an exciting and transformative initiative that we believe will have a profound impact on both our beloved Finke Theatre and our community as a whole. We are embarking on a campaign to expand the Finke Theatre by building a new facility that will be connected to the existing stage area. I wanted to take a moment to explain the significance of this project and how your support can help us achieve our vision.
The Finke Theatre has been a cherished cultural hub in our community for many years, providing entertainment, inspiration, and a sense of belonging to countless individuals. However, as our theatre's popularity and demand for our programs have grown, we find ourselves in need of additional space to fully realize our potential. The expansion we are proposing will bring essential facilities under one roof, including rehearsal spaces, set building areas, prop storage, a costume room, a board/meeting room, and dressing rooms.
Why is this expansion so important?

Why is this expansion so important?
- Enhancing Performances: The new facilities will significantly enhance the quality of our productions. With dedicated spaces for rehearsals, set creation, and prop storage, our creative teams will have the resources they need to craft exceptional performances that captivate and inspire audiences.
- Empowering Education: Our commitment to education will be amplified by this expansion. With new rehearsal spaces and resources, we can offer more comprehensive workshops, classes, and training programs for aspiring artists of all ages, nurturing the next generation of performers, designers, and technicians.
- Community Connection: The new space will become a hub for community engagement, allowing us to host more events, workshops, and gatherings. This expansion isn't just about a physical building; it's about fostering connections and creating shared experiences that bring us closer together.
- Social Impact: The arts have the unique ability to bridge divides and promote understanding. With the expanded Finke Theatre, we will have even more opportunities to collaborate with community organizations, schools, and local artists, contributing to the cultural enrichment and social well-being of our area.

The need...With bigger productions comes bigger cast, bigger set pieces, more props, more costumes, and more need for rehearsal space. Currently all of our shows and sets are rehearsed and built ON STAGE, so if there is an overlapping show during rehearsals that means everything must be cleared away for performance nights. Having additional "rehearsal space" would allow us to be rehearsing one show while another is being performed on stage. During shows our "wing space" and dressing rooms are currently extremely limited, having only 2 dressing rooms and wing space of less than 10'x10' for a cast of 30+ is very limiting.
All of our board meetings, show committee meetings, show production meetings, and other committee meetings are currently being held in the concession area. Which means setting up and tearing down tables, chairs, projectors, and computers each time. All of our props, furniture, costumes, etc are currently all stored in the space above the concession area, as well as closets, stairwells, basement spaces, outside, and even off site storage facilities. This means bringing all of these items through the theatre and concession area and into the theatre. This not only causes potential damage to our doors, woodwork, walls, and carpeting, but also is a saftey concern going up and down multiple flights of stairs while carrying awkward and heavy items. During performances with bands and other outside performers, currently the only way to get their equipment into the building is through the front doors, or one of the emergency exits. This is not only very hard on our carpeting and doorways, woodwork, etc, having rolling cases and instruments being loaded in, it's also a saftey concern during winter months when the snow and ice become a concern utilizing steps and tile entryways into the building. |
